What is Azure development?
Azure development is the building and running of software on Microsoft Azure, Microsoft's cloud platform. It covers cloud-native applications on services like App Service, Functions and containers, managed data on Azure SQL, identity and security with Microsoft Entra ID, and moving existing software onto Azure so it scales, stays secure and is paid for by usage.
An Azure development company designs, builds, migrates and runs this cloud software for you. Avaib has worked on the Microsoft stack since 2004, across more than 600 projects, so we can build a new cloud-native app, move an existing .NET or SQL Server system to Azure, or take over and tidy an estate that has grown messy.
Can you move our existing app to Azure without breaking it?
Yes, and we do it in slices rather than a risky big-bang cut-over. We map the app's dependencies first, move low-risk pieces early, test each step, and keep the current system running until the Azure version is proven. The business keeps working while the move happens underneath it.
Just as important, we do not simply rehost the old design. We reshape the parts that matter, using right-sized services, auto-scaling and managed data, so the cloud actually pays off rather than lifting your old inefficiencies onto always-on cloud servers.
Why did our Azure bill go up instead of down?
It is almost always the setup, not Azure itself. The usual causes are oversized virtual machines left running around the clock, no auto-scaling, forgotten test resources, and data egress nobody is watching. A straight lift-and-shift of an old app is the most common way this happens.
We fix it by right-sizing services, using auto-scaling and serverless where they fit, switching off what is idle, and putting cost alerts and monitoring in place, so you pay for real demand. On a fresh build or a proper migration, we design for cost from the start so it does not happen at all.
Is Azure secure enough for our data?
Azure gives you strong security tooling, but security is something you design, not something you get automatically. We build it in from the start, with Microsoft Entra ID sign-in, managed secrets and keys in Azure Key Vault, private networking and least-privilege access, all to the standard your sector requires.
We have built secure, regulated systems for finance, healthcare and government since 2004, and we treat the cloud as infrastructure to harden and monitor, working with your existing identity and compliance requirements rather than assuming the platform handles it for you.
Will we be locked into Azure if we build with you?
No. You own the code, the data, the documentation and the Azure accounts throughout. We favour standard, portable .NET and keep Azure-specific pieces cleanly separated, so your software can move to another cloud or your own servers if you ever choose to.
Our work is backed by a 30-day warranty and optional ongoing support, but the relationship continues because it keeps delivering value, not because you are trapped on a platform.
How much does Azure development or a cloud migration cost?
It depends on the scope, since a small cloud-native app is very different from migrating a large enterprise system or running a whole Azure estate. That is why we scope the work clearly up front and give you a fixed, plain-language quote for the build, plus a realistic view of what it will cost to run each month, before any work starts.
Our senior Azure engineers work at a cost-effective rate of around USD 25 per hour, the same capability Australian, US, Canadian and Middle-East firms charge a fortune for, and AI-accelerated delivery helps get you there faster. After a short conversation we send you a free, no-obligation written estimate with a clear scope.
